Leidos CLDWebsite

Website

An interactive space-capabilities website for Leidos CLD. My UI/UX work connected clear navigation with an immersive experience, including the scrolling journey through Logistics.

THE DESIGN CHALLENGE

The brief. The responsibility.

THE CHALLENGE

Leidos CLD needed a digital experience for exploring its space capabilities. My UI/UX task was to give that content a clear structure while making the journey feel engaging, especially through the scrolling interaction in Logistics.

The approach

A space-themed experience combines topic navigation, staged content, media, and deeper information. The Logistics section uses scrolling to move through the story, with persistent navigation and section controls helping visitors stay oriented.

Design goals
  1. 01Give visitors clear paths into space capabilities.
  2. 02Make scrolling part of the Logistics story.
  3. 03Keep navigation visible during immersive moments.
  4. 04Balance atmosphere with readable information.
  5. 05Let visitors reveal details when they want them.
  6. 06Connect interface design with motion and development.
My contribution

UI/UX, Figma wireframes and styleframes, interaction design, and collaboration with developers. A particular focus—and one of my favorite parts of the project—was the scrolling feature in the Logistics section.

EXPERIENCE STRUCTURE

A story shaped by scrolling.

Experience Structure / Finding A Way In

My UI/UX role covered how visitors enter the content and find their way through it. The delivered navigation groups the experience into Home, LEO, Lunar, Space Systems, and Videos.

Within LEO, Logistics sits alongside Engineering, Science, and Operations. That hierarchy gives the experience a broad set of entry points before a visitor moves into a more focused story.

Wireframes / Navigation And Flow

The wireframe stage of my design work addressed the structural side of the experience: content hierarchy, navigation, and the relationship between an overview and a deeper section.

For a scrolling experience, those decisions also involve what appears together and where a visitor can move next. The sample gallery below is reserved for original wireframe exports.

Styleframes / Atmosphere And Hierarchy

I also created styleframes as part of the UI/UX work. The delivered experience places white typography and Leidos branding over a dark space environment, with purple, blue, and teal accents.

The visual design needs to support two kinds of attention: exploring the environment and reading the information. Clear headings and controlled text areas give the content a place within that larger scene.

Logistics / Designing The Scroll

The Logistics scrolling feature was the part I especially enjoyed. It turns movement through the page into a progression through the subject, rather than presenting everything as one long block of information.

The introduction establishes the topic inside a large circular frame. Further into the section, media and expandable question cards provide different levels of detail. The top navigation stays present, and up/down controls provide another visible way to move between sections.

The UI/UX design question was how to make that progression feel connected while still giving visitors control over what they explore.

Interaction / Collaboration With Developers

My role connected the interface design with the developers building the experience. In Logistics, that collaboration centered on how navigation, content, and scrolling work together.

The resulting experience lets visitors move between overview content and more focused moments while retaining a consistent visual environment.

ART DIRECTION / VISUAL SYSTEM

The visual language.

A star field, Earth imagery, and translucent polygon shapes establish the environment. White text and branding provide contrast, while colored accents mark controls and selected areas.

Logistics / Room For The Message

The Logistics introduction gives the subject a prominent heading and places a short piece of copy near the center of the circular composition. The surrounding environment carries the atmosphere while the text introduces the content.

Deeper Content / Reveal On Demand

The later Logistics view presents questions around Earth. Opening a card reveals supporting copy and a further action, keeping the surrounding scene visible.

This offers a different pace from the introductory view: visitors can pause on a specific question and choose how much detail to explore.

DESIGN RATIONALE / TAKEAWAYS

Why the approach works.

01 / DESIGN TAKEAWAY

Scrolling With A Purpose

The strongest part of the design is the connection between navigation and storytelling. In Logistics, scrolling is a way to progress through the content, while the persistent controls maintain a sense of place.

That is the interaction rationale behind the feature I enjoyed most: movement supports the story rather than sitting apart from it.

02 / DESIGN TAKEAWAY

Structure Alongside Exploration

The top-level navigation provides a direct route into a topic. Within the topic, staged views and expandable details allow a more exploratory pace.

My contribution brings those two needs together through UI/UX, wireframes, styleframes, interaction design, and collaboration with developers.
